The Best of Jackson Hole—Go Take a Hike!
You can hardly throw a pebble without hitting a hiking trail in Jackson. Whether you’re after a flat and forested walk or a strenuous mountain hike, a one-mile out-and-back or 15-mile day-long excursion, guided or solo, you can find it all and then some in Jackson. During summer, what’s otherwise a ski run becomes a steep trail. It's little less than two miles in length and takes around 45-60 minutes to reach the summit. You will gain about 1,500 feet of elevation so needless to say, this town hill hike is an excellent workout. Depending on what time you hike you may even be able to take the chair lift down!
Scenic and mellow, this “hike” is more of a walk. A few miles in, there’s a boulder from which you can jump from 30 feet into Phelps Lake.
Moderate in intensity, this trail gives you options—either hike it round trip or halfway, then take a boat back to the starting point. One of the most iconic lakes in the area, Jenny Lake offers an impressive 7.6-mile serene hiking loop, boat tours, overlooks, and more. One of the most popular attractions in the park, Hidden Falls Trail is definitely one of the best hikes around Jenny Lake. The Hidden Falls waterfall drops over 100 feet before making its way to the lake below.
With an elevation gain of 2,000 feet over eight miles, this trail is difficult but worth it. The views are unreal, and we recommend getting there early to avoid the crowds and the heat of the day.
